Base camp
On base camp trips we stay in one place and do day runs. This is what's in your pack every day.
Here is a recommended packing list for a day in mountains based on a few thousand km of experience. General tips: never use cotton, best choice is merino wool t-shirts and longsleeves.
- Running vest or backpack 10–20 l (if it's new try it out during a long run with 2–4 kg)
- 2 x 500 ml soft bottles (Scandinavian mountains are full of drinking water)
- 500 kcal of emergency gel/bars to always have in your pack
- Energy for the day 500–1000 kcal (snacks, sport drink, gels/bars)
- Buff (neck gaiter) x 2
- Dry bag (e.g. Sea to Summit) for extra clothes – this is very good to have at all times, you will make sure your extra clothes stay dry e.g. in case of heavy rain or in case of falling into water.
- Extra clothes to put into the dry bag: extra merino long sleeve, gloves, hat or buff
- Mini down jacket or other light option to put on during breaks (into dry bag)
- Lightweight wind running jacket
- Waterproof jacket and pants if weather forecast is bad
- Sunglasses or cap
- Sun cream
- Running poles (foldable)
- Emergency blanket
Point to point
When we run on every day you carry everything. Bring everything on the day list above, but swap the running vest for a backpack, and add:
- Backpack 25–35 l that sits tight when you run (try it fully packed before the trip)
- Sleeping bag (comfort around 0 °C) – we don't lend sleeping bags
- Sleeping mat, if you sleep in a tent
- Tent, unless you borrow one of ours or stay in cabins
- Sleeping bag liner or sleeping bag for the cabins
- Dry clothes and socks for the evening, in their own dry bag
- Light shoes or sandals for the evening
- Head torch
- Toothbrush, toothpaste and a small microfibre towel
- Plastic bags or dry bags so everything in the pack stays dry
Pack light: every kilo shows on the climbs. We share out the group gear between us.
