Packing guide
adapted to Norway spring time
Here is a recommended packing list for a day in mountains based on few thousands km experiance. General tips: never use cotton, best choice is merino wool t-shirts and longsleeves.
- running vest or backpack 10-20l (if its new try it out during long run with 2-4kg)
- 2 x 500ml soft bottles (Scandinavian mountains are full of drinking water)
- 500kcal of emergency gel/bars to always have in your pack
- energy for the day 500-1000kcal (snacks, sport drink, gels/bars)
- buff (neck gaiter) x 2
- dry bag (e.g. Sea to summit) for extra cloths - this is very good to heave at all times, you will make sure your extra cloths stay dry e.g. in case of heavy rain or in case of falling into water.
- extra cloths to put into dry bag: extra merino long sleeve, gloves, hat or buff
- mini dawn jacket or other light option to put on during breaks (into dry bag)
- lightweight wind running jacket
- waterproof jacket and pants if weather forecast is bad
- sunglasses or cap
- sun cream
- running poles (foldable)
